Samhain's nearly upon us, and while it's not as much of a shagging holiday as, say, Beltane or Lughnasa, it's certainly an occasion for drinking! Therefore I'd like to share my favourite autumn drink, which is lovely on a cold night.
hot buttered rum:
Take a mug and pour in one shotglass full of rum, then fill up the rest of the way with apple cider. Sprinkle on some nutmeg and/or mace (it's a spice, as opposed to the stuff sold in aerosol cans in police supply stores) and microwave til hot. It usually takes between a minute and 90 seconds, depending on your microwave and the size of the mug. Don't nuke it too long, though, as you don't want to cook off all the alcohol. To be on the safe side, you can nuke the cider by itself and add the rum afterwards. Then top with a pat of butter and enjoy a warm boozey pagan evening!
