margorand: thoughts on the tarot

Do you think it ever tells you what you want to hear, or is it neutral? Sometimes I get the feeling that there's definite personality there. Any thoughts on how the bloody thing works?

I think my deck has a personality, it likes to work with some things and not with others. And it likes certain cards more than others too. elevenknights has the same deck but his acts totally differently and likes different cards, but if we do spreads for each other, my deck uses the cards his likes, and his uses the cards mine likes. They're conspiring against us, I swear.

Can't speak for the tarot, but my runes definitely have personality. They don't really take into account what I want to hear, but sometimes they'll tell me what I need to hear (as opposed to the answer to the question I asked). ^_^

in my experience it totally depends on the deck. certain decks have certian personalities and they develop more and more as you use them and are more in tune with them.

My deck has a definite personality. It usually tells me what I need to hear, though occasionally, I ignore it and try to make it tell me what I want to hear. When I do that, it stops working until I'm ready to hear what's true.

As to how it works? Dunno. It just does.

Yeah, that usually happens with my deck as well... I can 'try' to get a certain reading, but I just get nonsense until I back off and just let it tell me what I need to hear.

Lately I've just been getting some really strange readings. They make sense, but the stuff they're referring to is just crazy. So strange.
